Position:  Datawarehouse QA Tester
Location: Manhattan, NY; Washington, DC
Tax term: FULLTIME

Job description: This is a direct perm position for a Datawarehouse QA Tester with very strong SQL experience. PLEASE do not apply if you do not have experience writing complex SQL queries to validate data.

We are looking for someone that has testing/QA experience on datawarehouse projects.

The QA specialist will participate in the incremental development of the Data Warehouse, specifically the extracting of data from source systems and the loading to the warehouse. He/She participates in the project life cycle, from analysis to production implementation, with emphasis on data analysis, system testing, and auditable documentation of results. Experience in data warehousing and decision support testing is a must, coupled with data setup work and relational databases. The candidate should have a strong understanding of application development lifecycles and have a good understanding of data warehouse concepts and techniques.

Responsibilities:

	Coordination of the Test Environment creation and setup, including data elements and scripts.
	Participate in functional/technical design meetings.
	Create detailed test plans bases on analysis of requirements and design documents.
	Write test case scripts and execute; document detailed results and summary report.
	Execute systems and data quality testing to ensure all development deliverables are production ready.
	Perform System, Regression, Integration and Performance testing.
	In collaboration with other team members, analyze raw data to ensure the data will meet the business need.
	Coordinate UAT with business representatives.
	Monitor and resolve testing issues.
	Maintain defect status and description.
	Act as lead tester on projects.
	Manage testing tasks concurrently on multiple projects.
	Work with the business owner to identify key data elements that will be monitored on an on-going basis to ensure a high level of data quality within the DW.
	Develop automated testing scripts to improve testing effectiveness and productivity.
	Research production issues.
	Act as technical resource to other testers.
	Recommend, develop, document and implement process improvements.
	Document, educate & train others in processes & standards.

Requirements:

• 3-5+ years of systems analysis experience (at least 3 years in the testing field)
• 2+ years of data warehousing experience (**data driven** application testing does not fill requirement).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent education/work experience.
• Experience with all types of testing including systems, data quality, and acceptance.
• Experience in creating test plans, cases, and scripts without the use of testing case tools.
• Experience in writing SQL and executing test scripts.
• Experience in business analysis techniques.
• Demonstrated problem analysis and problem solving skills in a technical environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
• Strong skills in UNIX, and scripting required.
• Ability to navigate and work in both UNIX and Windows environments.

Preferred:

• Use of data profiling methods to analyze data sources
• Experience with Oracle based warehouses is a plus
• Experience with Ab Initio, Informatica
• Experience with business intelligence tools such as Cognos is a plus.
